Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design has a strong focus on our Visual Arts and Design students with a selective Visual Arts and Design Specialist Stream and an Academic Design Enrichment Class, supporting highly gifted students in Design and Technology, Science and Maths. The school also has a mainstream enrolment, which caters to local and non-local enrolment.

Check your address on School Finder to see if it is within our local intake area. Most schools have designated local enrolment areas. Note: local enrolment areas are subject to change.

Year 6 into 7 - Local mainstream enrolment
Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design is committed to providing students with a stimulating, creative and academically challenging learning for students in our designated local enrolment area.

2026 Year 6 into 7 enrolment: the application process will include completing the online Expression of Interest (EOI) form through your primary school and completing the Online Enrolment Application.
If your child is currently enrolled in Year 6 in a non-government primary school:
- Complete the Online Enrolment Application.
- We will contact you once a decision has been made about your child's potential enrolment, and next steps.
Proof of Residency
To be enrolled as a local student we require documents to establish the child’s address. A 100-point Residential Address Check needs to be completed to verify that the student being presented for enrolment lives within the intake area.
Note: if information given is false or misleading, any decision made as a result of this application may be changed.
Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design also offers non-local applicants, where there is availability, enrolment into mainstream with locally enrolled students. These students participate in a creative and academically challenging learning community.
To apply for the 2026 Year 6 into Year 7 enrolment,
If your child is currently enrolled in Year 6 in a government primary school:
- Complete the Online Expression of Interest (EOI) form through your primary school. To be considered, the applicant must list Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design as option 1.
- Complete the Online Enrolment Application.
- We will contact you once a decision has been made about your child's potential enrolment, and next steps. This will include completing additional documentation to support the application.
If your child is currently enrolled in Year 6 in a non-government primary school:

- We will contact you once a decision has been made about your child's potential enrolment, and next steps. This will include completing additional documentation to support the application.
Selection criteria
To apply for Visual Arts and Design mainstream students need to complete an application form and will be selected based on their suitability in meeting the following criteria.
Criteria 1: Demonstrated capacity in Visual Arts and Design
Criteria 2: Demonstrated skills and interests in creativity and imagination in learning
Criteria 3: Demonstrated and potential for both independent and collaborative learning
Criteria 4: Demonstrated educational effort and commitment to learning reflecting the values and creative and imaginative ethos of a Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design.
Criteria 5: Consideration of other factors includes:
- siblings already enrolled at the school
- compassionate circumstances of a serious nature
- curriculum offerings at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design to extend the special abilities, aptitudes and interests of students
- the capacity of the school to support the student after an appraisal of the student’s needs and availability of support services at other locations
- structure, organisation and curriculum of the school
Non-local enrolments
As outlined in the department’s enrolment policy, our school may accept enrolments from outside our local enrolment area if places are available.
Year 7 to 12 local mainstream enrolment: Complete the Online Enrolment Application and phone the school office regarding the application process.
