Our principal and staff

Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our principal

Welcome to Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design, the Premier public school in New South Wales for students with a flair for Visual Arts and Design!

Our school is unique. We cater for students with interests, passion and ability in all forms of Visual Arts and Design. Painting, sculpture, caricature, photography, ceramics, drawing, jewellery making, woodwork, electronics, coding, textiles, architecture and town planning are just an example of the talents that we have nurtured in our students over many years.

Alongside our specialist programs, we offer a strong comprehensive mainstream curriculum with a broad range of subjects available from Years 9 – 12. Our HSC and NAPLAN results are on a strong upward trajectory, and, with the assistance of a dedicated and amazing staff, we hope to continue in 2025 and beyond. Recent HSC results have been exceptional, with our state ranking improving dramatically over the past few years.

Our students are creative, socially aware and dedicated to improving their results and themselves. We cater for all students and hope to produce well rounded citizens who will leave us at the end of their secondary education, empowered and ready to embrace any challenge they wish to pursue. Most of our Year 12 cohort goes on to Tertiary Education and thrive, having developed the required skills to research, evaluate, synthesise, consider and produce thoughtful, well-structured responses to any question or problem presented.

Our staff are all Tertiary educated and committed to improving every individual in the school, supported by well-established Wellbeing and Teaching and Learning programs. Our support unit offers educational pursuits to students with challenging learning needs in a caring environment, well-resourced with a strong commitment to ensuring every student flourishes.

We are very well supported by an incredible community and parent body who understand that we offer opportunities to cater for almost every pursuit. Family support is vital in understanding that educating and raising children takes a village.

The students who leave us with the highest praise for their time at our school are ones who are involved in many opportunities that we offer. The opportunities at DHSVAD are tremendous and when students attempt new things, they realise they have gifts and talents in areas they have never considered attempting! We urge all students to try the initiatives on offer, as, chances are, they will enjoy them and be carried away exploring the possibilities!

Please consider applying for our school and we look forward to welcoming you to our village!
