Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design has 3 Support Unit classes for students with diverse needs.

Our Support unit is dedicated to providing a diverse range of educational opportunities, tailored to meet the unique needs of our students.
We believe in holistic education, and our students actively participate in all aspects of school activities e.g. assemblies, swimming and athletics carnival, camps and special event days. In the Support unit, we're committed to empowering every student on their educational journey, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive.
Specialised classes
- One class designed for students with a mild intellectual disability (IM).
- Two classes cater for students with a moderate intellectual disability and Autism diagnosis (IO/Au).

Tailored support
The Support unit caters to students diverse needs by offering:
- Lower student-to-teacher ratios for enhanced individual attention.
- Funding to ensure a well-rounded educational experience.
- A dedicated team of highly trained staff, Student Learning Support Officers (SLSO's) and external NDIS specialists onsite.
- Specialised classrooms designed to accommodate unique learning needs.
- Access to support from expert consultants, ensuring every student's success.
- All students access the Life Skills Curriculum and outcomes, empowering them to access personalised learning to meet students wants and needs.

Work experience programs
These programs are available for students who are in Years 11 and 12. This also includes travel training using all forms of Public Transport including buses, trains, light rail and the Metro line.
Currently the Support unit staff supervise programs at:
- Scope Kingsgrove and Avenue Botany - Supported student placement program providing levels of assistance and support for the empowerment for people with disabilities.
- Bunnings and Harris Farm – Independent Work Experience placements.
These programs allow selected students to gain job-ready skills and knowledge.
